Inc. Magazine Unveils Its Annual List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies—the Inc. 5000

For the 3rd Time, Southern Designs Appears on the Inc. 5000, Ranking No. 835

NEW YORK, August 14, 2019 – Inc. magazine today revealed that Southern Designs is No. 835 on its annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment —its independent small businesses. Microsoft, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, Pandora, Timberland, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as honorees on the Inc. 5000.

This is Southern Designs’ third year making the list, a testament to the consistent growth and success of the company.

“We are thrilled to receive this honor for a third year in a row as only 1 in 8 companies that make the Inc. 5000 are able to do it three times. This honor is a testament to our skilled and dedicated staff and their efforts to achieve the goals we’ve laid out at Southern Designs,” says Tance Hughes, CEO Southern Designs.

Southern Designs has grown substantially over the past year, expanding to include two new brands, Cut Maps (cutmaps.com) and Carter+ Main. (carterandmain.com) Cut Maps manufactures and sells custom maps while Carter + Main sells unique peel-and-stick wallpaper.

“The Hughes family is thankful for our dedicated team members and continued support from our community as a whole. We are humbled to see how much support we continually receive from so many different people,” says Hughes.

Not only have the companies on the 2019 Inc. 5000 (which are listed online at Inc.com, with the top 500 companies featured in the September issue of Inc., available on newsstands August 20) been very competitive within their markets, but the list as a whole shows staggering growth compared with prior lists. The 2019 Inc. 5000 achieved an astounding three-year average growth of 454 percent, and a median rate of 157 percent. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue was $237.7 billion in 2018, accounting for 1,216,308 jobs over the past three years.
