Upgrade to Grand Ecore Bridge near Natchitoches completed
State and parish officials recently attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reopening of Grand Ecore Bridge over the Red River. Roy Quezaire, Dept of Trans and Dev legislative liaison: “The Grand Ecore will allow businesses to move their products across our state safely. More than 8,000 vehicles travel across this bridge a day. This bridge will help move this state forward with economics." Full article.

Cane River Green Market
The Cane River Green Market (CRGM) continues its 2011 season, which will run through July 30. The Natchitoches' local farmer's market takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon on the downtown riverbank in the Natchitoches Historic District. Full article.
Folk Festival slated for July 15-16
The 32nd Annual Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival is slated for July 15-16 on the Northwestern State University campus. Tickets are $11 for a two-day pass, $8 for Saturday events and $5 for events after 5 p.m. The Annual LA State Fiddle Championship will also be part of the Festival. Full article.
Super Salsa Saturday set in Natchitoches
The Cane River Green Market will host Super Salsa Saturday in downtown Natchitoches on Saturday, May 28. The event features a homemade salsa recipe competition and free tasting starting at 10 a.m. Full article.
Natchitoches Considers Hotel Tax
The Natchitoches City Council will consider adopting a tax on hotels and motels to help the city continue its development efforts, including laying the groundwork for a 120-room hotel downtown. If passed, the 2 percent tax will affect hotels and motels located at the Interstate 49 interchange. City officials anticipate the occupancy tax would generate approximately $150,000 annually. Sale on the Trail set for weekend of May 6
One of the most famous roadways in America, the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail, will be the site of a 175 mile-long "Sale on the Trail" on May 6-7, 2011. Landowners and businesses located on Highway 6 in Louisiana Natchitoches to Crockett, Texas will hold yard sales, flea markets, festivals, trade shows, and sidewalk sales, along this famous trail. Natchitoches Jazz Festival
The City of Natchitoches will hold its Annual Natchitoches Jazz/R&B Festival on April 15 and 16 on the downtown riverbank in the Natchitoches Historic District. Activities include food, arts and crafts, events for children and a fireworks show in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Northwestern State University Marching Band. Bloomin’ on the Bricks scheduled for March 26
Natchitoches Main Street will sponsor “Bloomin’ on the Bricks,” its annual spring garden festival on March 26. The spring garden festival will feature a vendor area for items related to garden and lawn care such as plants, trees, herbs, ironwork, patio furniture, accessories, etc. The program is a celebration of spring in the City’s Historic District.
