Rapides Parish Library Receives Big Read Grant

The Rapides Parish Library recently received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to host The Big Read in Rapides Parish, which will focus on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. Activities will take place in October and November 2011. Full article.  

 

Rapides Parish Library goes digital

Rapides Parish Library (RPL) is proud to announce it has gone digital. In addition to checking out books, movies, CDs, and tapes, people can now download digital audio books, eBooks, music, and videos from the RPL Website to their personal computers, laptop computers, eBook readers, MP3 players, and other digital devices while they are at home. RPL will give classes to those who would like to learn more about this service on Dec. 18, and Jan 15.   Full article.  

 

Despite budget cuts Rapides Parish Library expands services

State budget cuts hit the Rapides Parish Library hard, but they are not closing the book on great services and now has more to offer than ever before, including online job searches, classes on Word or Excel and Internet navigation, etc. Library Director, Steve Rogge: "We're shifting our funding around to make sure that our highest priorities are still being met and the highest priority is our customers."    Full article.  

 

Social Security Disability workshop in Alexandria

The Rapides Parish Library free workshop on Social Security disability will be held at 2 p.m. today (Monday, Sept 27) at the Huie-Dellmon House, 430 Saint James St. in Alexandria. Social Security disability benefits and tips for navigating application process will be discussed. Full information.
