The Creole Heritage Center at Northwestern State Univ will present a free photo and document scanning workshop on Aug. 27 in the Paragon Casino Ballroom in Marksville. The Cane River National Heritage Area will also sponsor the workshop with support from Paragon Casino and Resort. Full article.

On Saturday, August 8, the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder will present country music legend Hank Williams Jr. in The Pavilion at Coushatta. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 8 p.m. On the same night, the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, will host stand-up comedian, actor and country music artist Rodney Carrington at the Mari Showroom. 8th Annual La Cuisine de la Louisiane slated for July 31
Paragon Casino Resort will host the 8th annual La Cuisine de la Louisiane in the Mari Showroom on Sunday, July 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Grammy winner Chubby Carrier, legendary zydeco musician, will to perform at La Cuisine at the fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Lafayette, the Avoyelles Society for the Developmentally Disabled of Marksville and the American Red Cross of Central Louisiana in Alexandria. Paragon Casino Open House Dec. 4
The Paragon Casino Resort's Holiday Open House is scheduled for Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Paragon Atrium. Shoppers will be able to browse through vendors, and kids can spend time at the Kids Quest and arcade. Activities for children include face painting and photos with Santa. Full article.
Annual Coats for Kids Drive Now Underway
Paragon Casino Resort recently kicked off the 2010 fall season with its annual Coats for Kids drive. Donations will be accepted through Monday, November 1. Paragon will collect new or slightly worn coats and jackets of any color and size, with buttons or zippers. Donations may be dropped off at the Tour & Travel sales booth, located near the parking garage, or at the Paragon Preferred Players Club, located near Roxy’s Diner. Full article.
Hampton Inn under construction in Marksville
A Hampton Inn is under construction on La. Highway 1, across from Paragon Casino in Marksville. Elias Thompson, manager of the under-construction property, said it is scheduled to open June 2011. The hotel will have 76 rooms, including 32 suites. Full Article.
Paragon Casino Resort hosts 2nd annual Avoyelles Safety Day
Paragon Casino Resort and the Marksville Fire Department will host the 2nd Annual Safety Day on Saturday, April 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Paragon Casino Resort ballrooms. Smoke detectors will be given free of charge to the first 500 people who attend. Full Article.
