Senator Landrieu Lands $487K for Cenla Rail Spur

KATC.com is reporting that Senator Mary Landrieu has announced that $487K is including in the omnibus appropriation bill for the relocation and extension of a rail spur owned by the City of Alexandria. Senator Landrieu, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said, "This project is a critical step to generating jobs for the City and the Region.

 

Last Minute Chance...

A limited number of openings are available for the Community Development Works one-day seminar: Limiting the Risk of Fraud and Minimizing Auditor Cost. The seminar will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at The Rapides Foundation Building in downtown Alexandria from 9 AM until 4 PM. It will be taught by Alexandria CPA Marvin Easley. The seminar has been sold out, but a handful of last-minute cancellations have created these openings. There is no cost for attending the seminar, but you must register in advance, and there is a cancellation fee.

CAP goes to Natchitoches for Advisory Council Meeting

CAP CEO Jim Clinton and ELS General Manager Gary Perkins will travel to Natchitoches on Wednesday, August 5 for a meeting of the Natchitoches Parish Advisory Council to CAP. The meeting will be convened by CAP Board Member Joe Cunningham, Jr. over lunch at Lasyone's Restaurant.

Louisiana Secretary of Economic Development Stephen Moret made a series of appearances in Central Louisiana yesterday and today, highlighted by a speech at the Rotary Club of Alexandria at noon today.

 

 

Monroe to New Orleans by Pirogue

"Have Pirogue, Will Travel" is the headline in the Catahoula News Booster. The online news source reports that Cliff Dodge and his grandson Robert Brown docked in Jonesville Sunday night as part of their journey by pirogue from the Forsythe Boat Dock in Monroe to the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans.
