Jindal: State Must Cut Another $197 Million from Budget
La’s Budget Cuts continue. Gov. Bobby Jindal’s staff will be spending the Christmas season cutting this year’s budget another $197 million in order to balance government expenditures with drops in revenue. A dramatic decline in sales tax is the main culprit. Full Article.
International Paper Closing Pineville Facility
International Paper announced today that it will close three of its mills -- the one in Pineville as well as others in Franklin, Va., and Albany, Ore. The Pineville plant will close Dec. 15. Gov. President Jeff DeLapp and Sr. Financial Officer David Richardson to announce that the company will construct the first large-scale processing facility in the world dedicated to high-quality, frozen sweet potato products near Delhi, Louisiana.
