NSU Cuts 19 Faculty & Staff Positions
Northwestern State Univ. notified nineteen faculty and staff members that their employment will not be renewed for fiscal year 2010. NSU president Dr. Randall Webb said the personnel reductions “are part of the university’s continuing efforts to offset extensive reductions in state funding”. Full Article
IP’s Pineville Mill Will Stop Mfg. Operations on Dec 15th
IP’s Pineville mill will stop its manufacturing operations on Dec. 15th, with most employees off the payroll on Dec. 26. After the mill stops manufacturing, workers will start the cleanup process, which could take a year to two years. Full Article.
Women May Soon Outnumber Men In Workforce
Women now make up just under 50% of workforce, and soon could outnumber men. Men have lost 3 out of 4 jobs in the recession, particularly in areas such as manufacturing & construction. And, according to Pew Research Center, four out of ten working adults have delayed retirement. Watch MSNBC Video.
